Trying Honey Locust Lumber

Last time I was at the lumberyard I was gifted one board of Honey Locust. It had so many pinks and reds in the wood, I was very curious to see what it would look like. But as I only had one board, it had to be something small, and as I'd never used it before, I decided to build something just for me.

I chose to make a cabinet door for an existing cabinet in my shop. This would still require a lot of different woodworking operations, so I would gain experience with the lumber in these different stesp. But also, it could be (BARELY) made out of just the one board.

The video goes into great detail and shows how lovely this wood can be. But if you want to skip to the end, my thoughts were: Hard like Maple, burns like Cherry, and it has a visually prominent grain like Ash. (and it was also a bit splintery.) But still I found it to be quite pleasing to the eye. I will be interested to see how the colours change as the wood ages.
